The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) has announced the appointment of Linda Bach as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 16, 2025.
Bach takes over from Rosalia Omungo, who has held the position for the past eight years.
In a statement, KEG described Bach as a leader bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.
The Guild expressed confidence that her leadership would propel the organisation forward as it continues to champion media freedom, professionalism, and credibility in Kenya.
“Linda brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, and we are confident that her leadership will drive the organisation forward,” KEG President Zubeidah Kananu said.
Bach, who has been serving on KEG’s Executive Council as the Member for Print Media, will step down from this role in line with the Guild’s constitution.
To fill the vacancy, the Executive Council has appointed Andy Kagwa of Standard Group as the new Council Member for Print.
In addition, Millicent Awuor has been named chairperson of the Programmes Committee, replacing Bach.
The leadership changes come at a significant moment for the Guild, which has positioned itself as a defender of press freedom and a voice of accountability within the media sector.
welcomed Bach’s appointment, calling on members to support her as she takes on the new responsibilities.
“Linda brings with her immense knowledge and a strong track record. We are confident that she will steer the Guild to greater heights,” the statement noted.
At the same time, KEG lauded Omungo for her dedication and the role she played in steering the organisation during a period of rapid change in the media landscape.
“We take this opportunity to sincerely thank the outgoing CEO, Rosalia Omungo for her sterling role in steering KEG for the past eight years. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” the Guild said.
