The prosecution was given 21 days to submit additional documents, including statements from Corporal Kae, who was injured in the same incident.

A Nairobi court has scheduled February 9 and 10, 2026, as the hearing dates for the murder trial of police officer Limo Kipkosgei Nahashon, who is accused of fatally shooting colleague Eric Munga at the Gigiri Police Canteen.

Justice Kanyi Kimondo issued the directive after confirming readiness from both the prosecution and defence during a pre-trial session.

The court ordered that the accused be present in court for both days at 11 a.m., and permitted virtual testimony for key witnesses.

The prosecution was given 21 days to submit additional documents, including statements from Corporal Kae, who was injured in the same incident.

Defence lawyer Kimani Wachira clarified that Nahashon is a GSU officer based at the GSU headquarters and not previously posted to Gigiri, as earlier indicated in court.

The court also heard that the officer had been interdicted but remains a resident with strong ties to the community.

His legal team requested the court to consider bond to enable adequate trial preparation, but the prosecution opposed the application, saying no new reasons had been presented.

The judge scheduled a ruling on the bail plea for September 30, 2025, to be delivered online due to the court recess. Nahashon was charged earlier in the year with murder and causing injury after opening fire inside the police canteen.

The incident drew public attention due to its location within a secure police zone and the involvement of armed law enforcers. The case has now been cleared to proceed to full trial after going through initial legal steps.
