KMPDC Chief Executive Officer David Kariuki said the shift from manual paperwork to a fully digital platform is aimed at improving service delivery.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has rolled out a new online system for health facility registration, marking a major step in its efforts to modernize healthcare regulation in the country.

KMPDC Chief Executive Officer David Kariuki said the shift from manual paperwork to a fully digital platform is aimed at improving service delivery, increasing transparency, and aligning with the government’s digital transformation agenda.

"This is more than a system upgrade," Kariuki said. "It’s a complete change in how we deliver our services and fulfill our regulatory role."

Through the new portal, applicants can submit their information using a simple, step-by-step process.

They are required to enter details such as the facility name, location, classification, services offered, directors, available personnel, and upload certified documents to prove compliance with the law.

Kariuki explained that the digital system improves the accuracy of information, provides real-time audit trails, and allows automated validation.

"All submitted data is verified before registration is approved. If any information doesn’t add up, the application is rejected," he said.

Applicants will be able to track the progress of their applications through email updates at every stage, from submission to final approval.

The council also promised faster processing once facilities are inspected, with a turnaround of 21 working days.

The platform is available around the clock and complies fully with the Data Protection Act, 2019.

"We have put in place strong safeguards, including encrypted submissions and strict access controls, to protect sensitive data," Kariuki said.

According to KMPDC, the system also makes it easier to retrieve or update facility records while helping internal teams manage workflows more efficiently through automated alerts and approvals.

"This new process gives people more confidence in how we regulate health services in Kenya," Kariuki added.

Those seeking to register their facilities can access the system at portal.kmpdc.go.ke/login or follow the user manual at kmpdc.go.ke.
