NACADA takes crackdown on drugs to Kisii County

In ongoing efforts against drug and substance abuse in the country, a multi-agency team led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) carried out a major raid in Mwamogeza Village, Kisii County.
The operation, conducted on Wednesday afternoon in Kiamuasi Location, led to the discovery of a significant drug cache hidden in rental houses.
Authorities seized seven 50kg sacks, four 90kg sacks, and two large carrier bags filled with the illicit substance.
The prime suspect, Geoffrey Nyabira, alias Jeff, managed to evade capture but remains a top target for law enforcement.
“We are relentless in our pursuit of drug barons, their networks, and distribution chains,” stated NACADA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Anthony Omerikwa.
“This seizure underscores our determination to dismantle these syndicates. We will track down and bring to justice every individual profiting from the destruction of our youth and communities.”
Three suspects were arrested during the operation and will be arraigned to aid investigations.
Meanwhile, authorities are assessing the street value of the confiscated drugs and intensifying efforts to capture Nyabira, who has previously escaped arrest.
Dr. Omerikwa urged the public to support the fight against drug abuse by providing crucial intelligence.
“Community involvement is vital. Reporting suspicious activities could save lives and help us permanently dismantle these criminal networks.”
As the crackdown continues, authorities remain confident that swift justice will be served and those responsible brought to account.
Meanwhile, NACADA has assured the public that similar operations will be carried out nationwide as efforts to eradicate drug abuse at its source gain momentum.
