Police in Timboroa have arrested one suspect and seized cannabis worth Sh2 million following an intelligence-led operation along the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway on Monday, October 13, 2025.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Timboroa Police Station intercepted a metallic grey Toyota Noah, registration number KCE 542R, after receiving credible information that the vehicle was ferrying narcotics.

A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered four sacks containing 759 brooms of cannabis carefully concealed in the boot. The suspect, who was in the vehicle at the time of the operation, was immediately apprehended and placed in police custody.

Police said the suspect is being processed and will be arraigned in court to face charges related to drug trafficking and possession of narcotics.

The seized cannabis and vehicle have been impounded at Timboroa Police Station as exhibits pending further investigation.

Confirming the incident, the National Police Service commended the officers involved for their vigilance and professionalism, noting that the successful operation underscores the Service’s determination to curb the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs across the country.

“The National Police Service commends the officers for their vigilance and swift action in combating drug trafficking,” the Service said in a statement.

NPS also reiterated its commitment towards the fight against narcotics, urging members of the public to continue collaborating with the police officers in the fight against the crime.

“We reiterate our unwavering commitment to the fight against narcotics and urge the public to continue sharing timely information to aid in the fight against crime, ”the statement read in part.

The National Police Service has, in recent months, intensified crackdowns on narcotics smuggling networks across major transport corridors, particularly along the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway, which has increasingly become a hotspot for illicit drug trafficking between western Kenya and the Rift Valley.
