Nairobi and the highlands to the east of the Rift Valley are forecast to experience cloudy mornings that will later give way to sunshine, accompanied by occasional rainfall. Temperatures in these areas will range from 6°C at night to 30°C during the day.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather outlook cautioning Kenyans to expect varied conditions across different regions between September 19 and September 22.

Nairobi and the highlands to the east of the Rift Valley are forecast to experience cloudy mornings that will later give way to sunshine, accompanied by occasional rainfall. Temperatures in these areas will range from 6°C at night to 30°C during the day.

The department noted that the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and coastal counties will record showers and thunderstorms during the period. “Most of the country will enjoy sunny intervals, but areas around the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria, and the Coast will have occasional rainfall,” the statement read.

In the western highlands and around Lake Victoria, residents should prepare for morning rains followed by afternoon thunderstorms, with temperatures fluctuating between 9°C at night and 31°C during the day.

Along the coastline and the south-eastern lowlands, residents are expected to contend with strong winds from the South and Southeast, reaching speeds of more than 25Knots.

The forecast also indicates that counties such as Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale will have showers both in the mornings and afternoons, with temperatures steady at about 31°C.

In the north, conditions will remain hot and dry, especially in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, where daytime highs are predicted to hit 37 to 38°C.

However, the weatherman projected light showers may develop toward the weekend. Turkana and Samburu will also be mostly sunny, though isolated areas could receive light rainfall on Monday, with daytime temperatures climbing to 36–37°C.

Counties including Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado are expected to record sunny conditions with chances of light showers in some areas. Daytime temperatures across these regions will vary between 31°C and 34°C.

The department urged residents, particularly those living in flood and storm-prone areas, to remain cautious and to make use of daily advisories provided by local meteorological offices.
