Week one of the 2025/26 Kenya Premier League season now renamed the Sportpesa League, was packed with drama and unending surprises as the Kenyan top flight men's football season begun in earnest Friday, with several matches played.
Only Kenya Police FC and Nairobi United, both taking part in continental action were missing in action on day one.
Police are hosting Mogadishu City Club in a two legged CAF Champions League qualifier, while Nairobi United take on Uganda's NEC in the CAF Confederations Cup, thus missing their opening league matches.

Tusker FC v KCB 0-2
Tusker were blown away by KCB in a surprise result on day one of the league at Kasarani Stadium. The bankers have recruited well and now have former league winning coach at Tusker FC Robert Matano on their side and will definitely be a club to watch. Tusker on the other hand, lost some key players in the off season and it seems they will need time.

An even match up between two sides that will expect to finish somewhere in the middle of the standings come the end of the season.
AFC Leopards V Sofapaka 1-1

Sunday
Shabana V APS Bomet 4-2
Shabana finished last season strong and they begun where they left off by dispatching new boys Bomet, who will struggle to get points on the board this season. Shabana will be hoping to give their fans something to cheer about in the title race. They are capable.
Murang'a Seal V Ulinzi Stars 0-1
Any side which might be involved in a relegation battle will look at any points dropped at home as criminal and this will be said of Seal. They were in the thick of relegation action last season and it seems it won't be any different this season.
Monday
Mathare United V Posta Rangers @Kasarani Annexe from 4 PM
Mathare were comfortable last season and eventually steered clear of relegation pressure. That wasn't the case for Posta who had to survive a playoff versus Naivas FC to make it back to the KPL this season. It should be a tight clash.

Kenya Police FC V Mara Sugar FC.
