The registration for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) is tomorrow, reminds the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

The registration process, which began on February 17, is set to close on March 28, with no extension or late registration available for the two key national exams.

KNEC has urged all eligible candidates to ensure they complete their registration before the deadline to avoid missing out.

In its announcement regarding the opening of registration, KNEC cautioned that once the portal closes, it will not be reopened for either KJSEA or KCSE candidates.

"Please note that the KJSEA Registration portal shall be closed on March 28, 2025, and there will be no provision for late registration of candidates once the portal is closed,” cautioned David Njengere, KNEC CEO.

The KJSEA is a national examination introduced under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) to assess learners at the end of Grade 9, facilitating their transition from junior to senior school.

After the registration portal closes, KNEC will initiate the verification process to ensure the accuracy of candidate details, including names, subjects, and school information.

Schools must thoroughly review the registration data and report any discrepancies before the final lists are confirmed.

This step is essential in preventing errors that could impact a candidate’s eligibility to sit for the exams.

Failure to verify details may result in mismatches during the examination period, potentially complicating the results processing.

Once verification is complete, KNEC assigns index numbers, which serve as unique identifiers for each candidate.

The council also relies on the final registration data to determine the required number of examination materials, allocate exam centres, and assign supervisors and invigilators.

The KCSE examinations are set to commence on October 21, 2025, and conclude on November 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, KJSEA assessments are scheduled to commence on October 27 and conclude on November 5.
