Erling Haaland gave City the lead on 11 minutes but a determined Brighton hit back 10 minutes later through a Pervis Estupinian free kick.

Both sides had opportunities to add to their tally in the first half but failed thanks to wasted chances but City finally retook the lead with an impressive finish from new signing Omar Marmoush on 39 minutes to lead at the break.

Their lead though lasted just three minutes into the second half when another of their new boys Abdikadir Khusanov put the ball into his own net to grant Brighton an equaliser.
