AFC Leopards banned from 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup

AFC Leopards have been banned from the 2025 Mozzart Cup competition by the Football Kenya Federation, it was announced Wednesday.
Leopards, who last won the Cup back in 2017, were banned by the FKF leagues and competitions committee following an incident of severe crowd trouble during their round of 32 clash versus Mara Sugar two weeks ago in Awendo.
According to the report released to the media Wednesday, Ingwe fans stormed the pitch in the 89th minute to protest a decision by the centre referee to overturn a penalty decision awarded to the club.
The invasion caused the match to be abandoned.
"AFC Leopards fans through their misconduct caused the abandonment of the match after storming the pitch to protest the referee's decision to rescind an earlier awarded penalty, the committee's findings read.
Leopards bosses were not available on phone when contacted by Radio Generation Sport while head coach Fred Ambani had no comment to make when reached.
The winner of the Mozzart Cup, which is the second most prestigious competition in Kenya after the Premier League, automatically qualifies for the CAF Confederations Cup.
Leopards trail leaders Kenya Police by 9 points in the League.
They have 36 points from 23 matches played while police are on 45 from 24 matches.
There are 10 matches left to the end of the season.
