Be Careful During the Rainfall Season, Mosiria tells Nairobians
In Summary

In its advisory released on Friday March 6, the department indicated that eight regions would be affected, including the highlands west and east of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Central and South Rift Valley. “Most parts of the country will experience predominantly sunny, dry, and hot weather conditions, followed by possible rainfall in several areas, particularly from the weekend onward,” Kenya Met announced.

The Nairobi County Government Environment CEC Geoffrey Mosiria is calling on Nairobians to watch out for flooding.

This comes as the Weatherman announced the onset of rainfall in several parts of the country including the capital.

Mosiria called on residents to report cases of flash floods to the number 1508 and the county will come to their aid.

"The rains have started, so be careful and ensure that the drainage system around your residential area is free of garbage and unclogged. Those who live near the river should move 30 meters away on both sides," said Mosiria.

He also said they are working with the Climate WorX teams to clean the environment, unclog drainage systems and clean the Nairobi River.

His call comes as the Kenya Meteorological Department warned of moderate to heavy rainfall expected in several parts of the country from Friday, March 7, 2025, to Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

"Counties in the highlands east, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall from Saturday through Tuesday," said the Weatherman.
