The Jubilee Party on Friday, March 14, heightened campaigns for its preferred presidential candidate, former Uhuru-era CS Fred Matiang’i in Nyamira County.
In a statement issued on Saturday, March 15, 2025, the party’s secretary-general, Jeremiah Kioni, highlighted that residents emphasized the need for transparency and a government that actively responds to their concerns.
“Yesterday, I had the privilege of engaging with the proud people of Nyamira, dedicated members of the Jubilee Party, who reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to principled leadership and transformative governance,” Kioni stated.
“They emphasized that true leadership is about serving the people, working alongside them, and being guided by their voices.”
Matiang’i has secured the Jubilee Party's backing for the 2027 presidential race, despite already being endorsed by his party, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
"Jubilee Party remains the home of the people, standing firm in the fight for dignity, development, and leadership that truly serves,” Kioni said.
Kioni remains confident that Jubilee is well-positioned to take over from Ruto in 2027.
However, he acknowledged that through strategic coalitions with other parties, Matiang’i still has a viable path to securing the presidential ticket in the upcoming elections.
Matiang’i first gained national recognition in public service when former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) in 2013.
He was later moved to the education ministry, where he spearheaded significant reforms in the administration of national examinations.
During his tenure, Matiang’i established himself as a decisive and results-driven government official, known for his close working relationship with the president and his firm approach to policy implementation and discipline.
