CS Duale vows to issue title deeds to all public hospitals

Duale underlined the importance of formal land ownership in the health sector.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has committed to expediting the process of issuing title deeds to all public health facilities in a bid to prevent land grabbing and safeguard government property.
Speaking during a visit to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where he officially presented the hospital with its title deed, Duale underlined the importance of formal land ownership in the health sector as a means to protect vital infrastructure.
"I’ve been tracing title deeds for all dispensaries and hospitals. With over 10 million people seeking medical care daily, it is unacceptable for anyone to claim ownership of hospital land," he stated.
Duale praised Kericho County for its progress in neonatal care and the successful rollout of the Social Health Authority program, which has already enrolled 390,000 residents.
He also urged a scale-up in training medical specialists to meet growing healthcare demands.
Meanwhile, area leaders requested national support to finalize a 260-bed centre dedicated to non-communicable diseases, a facility expected to significantly enhance the county’s capacity to deliver universal health coverage.
