Landowners in Nyandarua are being urged to stay vigilant following the county government's announcement of new measures aimed at addressing irregular land allocations.

In a recent gazette notice, Nyandarua Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha unveiled the establishment of a task force to investigate land-related issues, seeking to restore confidence in land management within the region.

The newly formed task force will consist of a chairperson, four members, a secretary, and a three-person secretariat.

Its primary role will be to probe suspicious land ownership and allocation practices that have become prevalent in Ol Kalou, the county's administrative center.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that the Governor of Nyandarua County has established a Taskforce on Land Investigation to enquire into matters concerning land ownership and allocations within Ol Kalou Municipality," the notice read.

The task force is set to investigate the alleged illegal and improper allocation of public land within Ol Kalou Township.

A key aspect of this inquiry will involve a thorough review of the existing land titling procedures to address the concerns of unchecked land grabbing and improper title issuance.

Following this evaluation, the task force will be expected to propose measures, which could include the revocation or reclamation of plots obtained through questionable methods.

Ol Kalou, the administrative and economic center of Nyandarua, boasts some of the most expensive land in the region, with prices varying based on size and location.

The county government's decision to probe illegal land allocations follows a recent announcement by the National Land Commission (NLC) regarding land tenure regulations in Nyandarua and Kericho Counties.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, December 31, the NLC disclosed plans to distribute a 0.99-acre plot of land to the public and other interested parties.

According to the National Land Commission (NLC), land tenure regulation will be governed by specific terms, conditions, covenants, and reservations, which must be incorporated into the conveyance agreements between the government and the concerned parties.

Landowners must submit a claim for compensation prior to the inquiry date, providing a copy of their identification card (ID), Personal Identification Number (PIN), land ownership documents, and bank account details for the compensation process.
