The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has announced its key interim leaders, with former Kakamega Senator and UDA Secretary General Cleopas Malala named as interim Deputy Party Leader.

The party will be led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala serving as the interim Deputy Party Leader.

Former Meru Senator and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi will take on the role of National Organising Secretary.

Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has been appointed National Women Leader, while former Starehe MP Maina Kamanda will chair the Council of Eminent Persons within the DCP.

David Mingati will serve as the National Chairperson, supported by Peter Mwathi and Sarah Owino, who will be responsible for Strategy and Operations, respectively.

Hezron Obanga has been named Secretary General, with Martin Ole Kamwaro as his deputy. The role of National Treasurer will be held by Anna Mutua, assisted by Evangeline Njoka and Tomwas Nyangi.

The new political party was officially launched by former DP Gachagua on Thursday.

DCP is branded with a listening ear logo, highlighting its focus on being a people-centered party committed to amplifying the voices of ordinary Kenyans.

According to Gachagua, the party’s slogan, "Skiza Wakenya," which means "Listen to Kenyans," reflects the mission to place Kenyans’ concerns at the core of governance.

"We believe as a party that every Kenyan must be listened to by their leaders. This listening must not just be listening for the sake of it,” Gachagua said. "It must be deliberate, planned, and must have a purpose, and must be sustainable."

"At no one given point in our leadership shall Kenyans be left behind or remain unheard," he added. The party colors, neon green, brown, and white, were chosen to represent renewal and peace. ,

"We finally have a political party. Our new party is the Democracy for the Citizens Party, and our party slogan is Sikiza Wakenya, but Kenyans can interchange with Sikiza Ground," Gachagua said.
