Four suspects arrested in Turkana fishermen murder probe

According to reports, the arrests were made on Friday, May 16, just hours after authorities detained the suspects' fathers.
Ethiopian security forces have apprehended four individuals suspected of killing four Kenyan fishermen in Todonyang, Turkana North, earlier this week.
According to reports, the arrests were made on Friday, May 16, just hours after authorities detained the suspects' fathers in a calculated effort to compel their sons to surrender.
The Dassanech security unit, operating on the Ethiopian side of the Kenya-Ethiopia border, identified the suspects as Nyechu Achobe, Nabotee Ara, Kelete Atete, and Armiyat Lochoronyang.
Authorities believe the four suspects were members of an Ethiopian militia that launched a deadly ambush on Kenyan fishermen at around 4 am on Thursday, May 15, as they cast their nets in Lake Turkana.
In a statement, the Dassanech security team reaffirmed their commitment to justice and regional stability, saying, "The Dassanech administration remains committed to ensuring justice and maintaining peace in the region."
In a similar incident earlier this year, 20 Kenyan fishermen lost their lives in February after being attacked by suspected Ethiopian militia in the same region.
