Public asked to submit budget proposals ahead of June 12 reading

Mbadi said the National Treasury is collecting views from the public to help shape key economic and tax decisions in the upcoming budget.
Kenyans have until May 26 to share their suggestions with Treasury as Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi prepares to deliver the national budget for the 2025/26 financial year on June 12.
Mbadi said the National Treasury is collecting views from the public to help shape key economic and tax decisions in the upcoming budget.
He said the goal is to ensure the budget reflects the needs and ideas of ordinary citizens.
"This is a chance for every Kenyan to take part in building our economy," Mbadi said.
"We welcome suggestions that will help us tackle hunger, create jobs, and support local businesses," he added.
The Treasury has listed several focus areas for public input, including proposals to reduce the cost of living, support the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, and promote opportunities for young people and women.
Kenyans are also being asked to share ideas that can improve financial discipline and ensure public money is used well.
"All suggestions, big or small, matter to us," Mbadi said.
Contributions can be sent by email to [email protected], with a copy to [email protected], before the deadline on May 26.
The final Budget Statement will be presented in Parliament on June 12.
