Three more freed in Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were murder case

Those freed are Juma Ali Haikal, Douglas Muchiri Wambugu and David Mihigo Kagame.
A court at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has released three suspects in the murder case of Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were, after the prosecution said there was no evidence linking them to the crime.
Those freed are Juma Ali Haikal, Douglas Muchiri Wambugu and David Mihigo Kagame.
Their discharge brings the number of suspects released in the case to five.
On June 3, the Makadara Magistrate’s Court also discharged two others — Dennis Sewe Manyasi, who was Were’s driver, and Walter Owino Awino — after they too were found to have no connection to the murder.
The two are now expected to testify for the state.
This comes as five remaining suspects continue to be held following the recommendation by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions that they face murder charges.
They are yet to take plea as they await mental assessment.
In a related development, businessman Phillip Aroko has been released on bail.
