This initiative forms part of a wider effort to enhance labour migration systems and create well-organized international job placements for Kenyan professionals.
The government has introduced a new overseas employment initiative targeting healthcare workers, unveiling a set of job openings for qualified pharmacy professionals in Jersey Island.
This initiative forms part of a wider effort to enhance labour migration systems and create well-organized international job placements for Kenyan professionals.
On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs announced on social media platform X a call for applications from diploma and degree holders in pharmacy for various positions in Jersey Island.
The announcement, titled “Work Opportunities in Jersey Island,” invited qualified pharmacy professionals to apply for roles spanning clinical to managerial levels.
Available vacancies include Lead Pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Pharmacist, Lead Pharmacy Technician, and Senior Pharmacy Technician.
Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through an online form by June 18, 2025.
To protect applicants from exploitation, the department highlighted that the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA) is the only authorized recruiter for these jobs and that no recruitment fees should be charged.
“Applicants must be cautious of fraudsters. All applications are handled exclusively through official government channels,” the department cautioned.
This recruitment effort comes after Kenya signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a staffing firm based in Jersey Island.
The agreement seeks to formalize employment pathways and minimize the risks Kenyan migrant workers face from informal or exploitative hiring practices abroad.
The MoU is part of the government’s broader strategy under President William Ruto to leverage international labour markets as a solution to domestic unemployment and to increase diaspora remittances, which have become a critical source of national revenue.
Kenya’s Central Bank reports that diaspora remittances reached a record $4.3 billion in 2024, underscoring the importance of labour migration as both an economic driver and a key development strategy.
Applicants interested in the available positions are required to submit an updated Curriculum Vitae, a copy of their passport biodata page or Kenyan national ID, along with their academic and professional certificates.
For any inquiries, applicants can reach out to the State Department via email at [email protected] or visit the Diaspora Placement Agency’s offices located on the first floor of Old Mutual Tower, Upper Hill Road, Nairobi.
