Police in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, have detained three brothers in connection with the death of their 40-year-old brother, Ochieng.

Ochieng’s body was found early Saturday morning lying by the roadside in Adiedo village, about 400 meters from their home. He had visible wounds on his head, hands, and legs.

Family members rushed him to Kendubay Sub-County Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Officers from the police visited the hospital and confirmed his death.

Detectives later inspected the site where the body was discovered but concluded that it was unlikely to be the actual location of the murder.

This conclusion was based on the absence of any bloodstains at the scene.

Police officers then conducted a search at the deceased’s home, where they seized two clubs, an axe, and a slasher, all reportedly stained with blood.

Further blood stains were found on the kitchen wall, although it appeared the area had been cleaned.

Nearby, officers discovered what they described as discarded evidence in a maize field.

These findings challenged the initial report that Ochieng was found dead by the roadside, prompting detectives to suspect the crime occurred within the family home.

The three brothers were taken into custody for questioning as investigations continue.

Ochieng’s body was taken to the mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination and further forensic tests.
