Woman nabbed at JKIA with over 600 grams of cocaine

The suspect was intercepted on the morning of June 13, just before boarding an outbound flight.
Anti-narcotics officers at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport have arrested a 26-year-old woman, Wendy Mbeke Muli, who attempted to smuggle cocaine by internally concealing drug pellets.
She is set to appear in court on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The suspect was intercepted on the morning of June 13, just before boarding an outbound flight.
Her suspicious behavior during a routine screening caught the attention of alert security personnel, prompting a more detailed inspection.
Authorities soon confirmed that Muli had ingested foreign substances, leading to her immediate placement under medical supervision.
Later that day, she excreted two drug pellets while under observation. The following day, six additional pellets were retrieved, bringing the total to eight.
Lab analysis revealed the pellets contained approximately 626.65 grams of cocaine.
Investigators say the suspect’s method was a desperate attempt to bypass airport security.
The case is being handled by the airport’s anti-narcotics unit, which has intensified surveillance to curb international drug trafficking through Kenyan airports.
