Nairobi Central OCS Samson Talaam appears in court over murder probe

Talaam appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi on Monday, June 16, 2025, as the prosecution filed a miscellaneous application tied to the murder case.
Nairobi Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Samson Kiprotich Talaam, has been arraigned in court in relation to the ongoing investigation into the death of Albert Omondi Ojwang.
Talaam appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi on Monday, June 16, 2025, as the prosecution filed a miscellaneous application tied to the murder case.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is requesting the court to allow them to hold OCS Talaam for 21 more days to finalize their investigations.
Senior Assistant Director of Investigations at IPOA, Abdirahaman Jibril, told the court that investigators have only managed to collect preliminary findings, and additional time is needed to build a comprehensive case.
According to the application, initial evidence suggests that Talaam, along with other suspects yet to be apprehended, may have orchestrated and attempted to conceal the violent assault that allegedly took place inside the Central Police Station holding cells, leading to Ojwang’s death.
