The High Court has compelled Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to present blogger Ndiang'ui Kinyagia, who has been missing for the past ten days.

Justice Chacha Mwita, who is handling the matter, emphasized that the case involves a habeas corpus application concerning a Kenyan citizen whose life may be in jeopardy.

“This concerns a human being. I have considered the fact that the second applicant has been unaccounted for over 10 days, and this raises serious concern over their safety,” the judge said.

The court has directed that the application be served to all named respondents by close of business on Monday, with their replies expected within seven days.

In a firm directive, Justice Mwita instructed the IG to either produce Kiangui in person or deliver a credible explanation for his absence by 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, during a scheduled in-person mention of the case.

The legal action was prompted by rising concern over Kiangui’s prolonged disappearance, which has fueled fears of a possible case of enforced disappearance.
