Kigame, who previously vied for the presidency in 2022, intensified his calls for political renewal, urging Kenyans to reject leaders he says are driven by personal gain at the expense of the people.

Former presidential aspirant Reuben Kigame has called on Kenyans to make wise choices at the ballot in the upcoming general elections, urging them to reject leaders he accuses of dishonesty, violence, and abuse of power.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Kigame cautioned voters against supporting individuals who he claims are behind abductions and the country’s declining state of affairs.

His remarks were in response to a user identified as @WaweruMugo, who commended Kigame’s keynote address at an event hosted by the TRCS and expressed interest in supporting his political cause.

“I was quite impressed by your speech at TRCS when you were the chief guest. How can I contribute to your campaign?” the user asked.

Kigame replied: “The most important thing you can do for me right now is tell the people of Kenya to ignore and avoid voting into office liars, abductors, and murderers who have plundered the country and brought us where we are.”

His comments follow a period of public outrage over a wave of abductions reported between December 2024 and January 2025. President William Ruto had assured the nation of action and later told the public during a meeting with the Polish president that all victims had been safely reunited with their families.

Kigame, who previously vied for the presidency in 2022, intensified his calls for political renewal, urging Kenyans to reject leaders he says are driven by personal gain at the expense of the people.

“Kenya has shown you how to retire unwanted politicians who ruin a country. We will soon show you how to get rid of them permanently,” he said in a follow-up post, declaring that the era of exploitation and destructive leadership must come to an end.

He further called for generational change, stating: “We need young people in office. The old guard has betrayed the continent. Constitution or no constitution, the older politicians must now retire.”

Kigame's remarks come months after he was named Deputy Party Leader of the Justice and Freedom Party of Kenya (JFP).

Speaking during his unveiling, Kigame urged citizens to mobilize for the 2027 elections.

“Look for your ID. Look for your voter’s card and get ready to vote in 2027,” he said.

He added that the JFP is committed to mentoring young Kenyans, particularly those aspiring to run for office, and aims to offer a platform for ethical, youth-driven leadership.
