Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano emphasized the untapped potential within Kenya’s agricultural landscapes.

The government has unveiled a new tourism initiative inviting both local and international visitors to explore Kenya’s famed tea and coffee farms, as part of a broader effort to diversify the country's tourism experiences.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano made the announcement on Monday, July 21, 2025, emphasizing the untapped potential within Kenya’s agricultural landscapes.

“We are extending a warm invitation to explore our globally acclaimed tea and coffee farms, as well as our athletic and cultural heritage. These experiences offer immersive, authentic encounters while creating new economic opportunities across various sectors,” Miano said in a statement.

She noted that the government is shifting focus beyond traditional safari and beach tourism to showcase Kenya’s full cultural and economic spectrum.

“Our strategy is to open new frontiers highlighting not only the scenic beauty of our landscapes but also the ingenuity of our people and the strength of our industries,” the CS added.

The ministry is also strengthening ties with agriculture, sports, and the creative economy to develop a more integrated tourism model. Miano underscored the importance of youth innovation in shaping this new tourism frontier.

This development follows a recent diplomatic breakthrough between Kenya and Morocco. On May 28, 2025, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi held talks with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch in Rabat, where the two leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, and tourism.

As part of the engagement, Morocco pledged to increase imports of Kenyan tea and coffee a move seen as a significant boost to Kenya’s export market.

“We resolved to initiate immediate bilateral frameworks aimed at unlocking Morocco’s market for Kenyan goods and expertise,” Mudavadi noted.

Prime Minister Akhannouch also expressed readiness to visit Kenya, accompanied by a delegation of investors, to reinforce diplomatic and commercial ties between the two nations.

The combined push to promote agro-tourism and tap into new international markets is expected to drive growth in Kenya’s economy, while positioning the country as a multifaceted global destination.
