Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed mounting opposition criticism and political noise, describing it as baseless and aimed at distracting the government from its long-term development agenda.

Speaking in Tharaka Nithi County during the launch of the Tharaka Boda Boda Sacco Economic Empowerment Programmes, Mudavadi said the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed and focused on delivering key projects and reforms under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

He accused critics of spreading misinformation and propaganda, particularly claims that the government is fearful of the 2027 general election.

“We want Kenyans, the opposition, and the international community to know we are not afraid of elections. Kenya will continue to hold peaceful, fair, and credible elections as a democratic country,” said Mudavadi.

He cautioned political leaders against fueling public anxiety about the electoral process by casting doubt on the newly reconstituted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Mudavadi affirmed that the appointment of new commissioners followed legal procedure, lauding the role of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee in Parliament, chaired by Tharaka MP George Murugara, in vetting and endorsing the candidates.

“The leadership of Murugara has been instrumental in delivering a milestone for the country, especially after delays caused by the NADCO process and legal challenges. His committee ensured the IEBC is properly constituted to oversee free, fair, transparent, and verifiable elections,” he noted.

Mudavadi emphasized that the only legitimate path to leadership is through the ballot, reaffirming public trust in the IEBC’s mandate to deliver credible polls.

He also took aim at a section of politicians he described as misleading Kenyans into believing that no progress is being made under the Kenya Kwanza government.

He labeled them enemies of progress who lack a development agenda, insisting that the government's programs are aligned with the Kenya Kwanza manifesto and are being executed as planned.

Highlighting Article 43 of the Constitution, which guarantees all Kenyans economic and social rights, Mudavadi defended President William Ruto’s controversial push for affordable housing, arguing it is rooted in constitutional obligations.

“Previous governments hesitated to address the housing challenge, but President Ruto has made bold decisions to ensure Kenyans have access to decent and affordable homes. These decisions are not politically motivated but are anchored in the Constitution and the people’s needs,” he said.

On healthcare, Mudavadi acknowledged existing challenges but urged Kenyans to remain patient and supportive, assuring them that reforms under implementation would ultimately improve service delivery.

“Our aim is universal health coverage. As with any new system, there are bound to be teething problems, but with cooperation and commitment, we will get it right,” he said.

“Victory will come not just for President Ruto, but for all Kenyans when healthcare improves, when food is accessible, when productivity increases, and when resources are equitably distributed.”

He also rallied residents of Tharaka Nithi, the home county of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, to remain united and continue supporting the government.

Mudavadi praised Kindiki as a focused and professional leader who has brought a new level of integrity and efficiency to public service.

“You have a capable and high-caliber leader in Professor Kindiki. Let us support him, work together to build the nation, and help the President deliver for Kenyans,” he urged
