National Assembly committee to vet nine envoy nominees on September 3-4

The National Assembly's Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee will conduct approval hearings of nine nominees for the positions of High Commissioner, Ambassadors and Consuls-General on Wednesday, 3 September and Thursday, 4 September 2025 at Parliament Buildings.

The nominees, who were forwarded to the House by President William Ruto, include Florence Chepngetich Bore (High Commissioner to Windhoek, Namibia), Amb. Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri (Ambassador to Ankara, Turkey), Amb. Lucy Kiruthu (Ambassador to Bangkok, Thailand) and Henry Wambuma (Ambassador to Bujumbura, Burundi),

Others are Abdirashid Salat Abdille (Ambassador to Jakarta, Indonesia), Amb. Joseph Musyoka Masila (Ambassador to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Amb. Edwin Afande (Ambassador to Vienna, Austria), Jayne Jepkorir Toroitich (Consul-General to Dubai, UAE), and Judy Kiaria Nkumiri (Consul-General to Goma, DRC).

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Samuel Njoroge, has invited members of the public to submit any representations they may have, by way of written statements on oath (affidavits) with supporting evidence, contesting the suitability of the candidates for appointment to the offices they have been nominated to.

"The memoranda may be forwarded to the Clerk of the National Assembly, P.O. Box 41842-00100, Nairobi; hand-delivered to the Office of the Clerk, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi; or emailed to cna@parliament.go.ke to be received on or before Monday, 1st September 2025 by 5.00 p.m.," said Njoroge.

The Nelsson Koech-led committee’s report will be tabled in the House for consideration and subsequent approval or rejection of the nominees, as required by the Constitution and the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, Cap. 7F.
