The Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for the National Land Commission (NLC) has unveiled the names of candidates shortlisted for the positions of Chairperson and members.
The announcement marks a key step in filling leadership positions that will guide land administration and management across Kenya.
Ten candidates are now set to face interviews for the Chairperson role on October 1 and 2, 2025.
The first day of interviews will feature Dr Rebecca Kavutha Mutia from Kitui, Dr Abdikadir Oman Aden from Garissa, Gilbert William Opanga from Vihiga, Monicah Nanyumuk Chentrich from Nakuru, and Abuga Kennedy Kaunda from Kisii.
The second day will see Nelly Karimi Mbugua from Meru, Prof Saeed Mutua Mwangi from Kitui, Dr Justa Wavinya Mwangi, a person with disability from Embu, Dr Abdillahi Sagaf Alawy from Kwale, and Dr Humphrey Kimani Njuguna from Murang’a, interviewed for the top post.
In addition to the Chairperson role, 51 individuals have been shortlisted for eight NLC member positions. Their interviews are scheduled to take place on various dates between October 3 and October 14, 2025.
The Selection Panel emphasized that the shortlist was the result of a careful review of applications submitted following a public call issued on August 27, 2025.
Members of the public who have objections or relevant information regarding any of the shortlisted candidates are encouraged to submit their input.
“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits to the Secretary/CEO via email [email protected] or hand delivered to the Office of the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission situated on the 4th floor Commission House, Harambe Avenue, Nairobi on or before 30th September, 2025,” the panel stated.
The announcement concludes a rigorous shortlisting process and moves the selection closer to the final appointment of individuals who will oversee land management and policy implementation in Kenya.
