Police have announced a Sh1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the brutal killings of several women whose remains were discovered at the Kware dumpsite in Nairobi.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) pledged the cash reward to anyone who provides credible information that will help in tracking down the fugitive.

Authorities said the suspect is considered dangerous and urged the public to report any leads immediately.

“The National Police Service hereby pledges a cash reward of Sh1 million to anyone who provides credible information that will assist in the re-arrest of the suspect. Should you know his whereabouts, #FichuaKwaDCI through our toll-free hotline 0800 722 203, or WhatsApp 0709 570 000. You can also report to your nearest police station or call the hotlines 999, 911, or 112,” the appeal reads.

Jumaisi escaped from custody in August 2024, just before he was due to face murder charges in court. He fled alongside 12 Eritreans from the Gigiri Police Station cells on the morning of August 21.

Since then, he has remained at large, prompting an intensive manhunt by security agencies.

Police have assured the public that every piece of information will be treated as valuable and handled with confidentiality.

They urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and cooperate with investigators to ensure Jumaisi is re-arrested and brought before the courts.

Investigators say Jumaisi admitted to killing a total of 42 women between 2022 and July 11, 2024, when he allegedly murdered his last victim. He later denied the charges in court.

He and two others had been presented before the Makadara Law Courts before Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi, where the prosecution sought 21 days to detain the suspects.

After submissions from both sides, the court ruled that Jumaisi, the main suspect, be held at the Gigiri Police Station for seven more days, while the others were detained at Muthaiga Police Station.

The gruesome killings, which shocked the nation, sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for tougher action against rising cases of gender-based violence and femicide.

The discovery of dismembered bodies at the dumpsite left families and communities traumatized, with many demanding justice for the victims.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect hails from Shiru Sub-location, Shaviringa Location, Hamisi Sub-county in Vihiga County.
