Reconnection of disconnected accounts will only be done once all outstanding balances are fully settled. Customers have been advised to make payments through authorized channels, including M-Pesa Pay Bill 444400, the NCWSC customer portal, partner banks, and official pay points.

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced a citywide water disconnection exercise starting on October 15, 2025, targeting all consumers with unpaid water bills as part of efforts to recover outstanding arrears.

The exercise will affect all categories of users without exception, including government institutions, county agencies, commercial businesses, and domestic consumers.

The company, which is the licensed water service provider for Nairobi County, said the enforcement action has been prompted by a large number of unpaid accounts despite repeated notices and reminders.

It explained that the outstanding debts have strained revenue collection, threatening the sustainability of both bulk and retail water services in the city.

“This is a decisive enforcement measure to recover overdue arrears from all defaulting consumers,” the company said, adding that it had exhausted all engagement channels before resorting to the disconnections.

Consumers have been urged to clear their pending bills immediately to avoid losing their water supply. NCWSC has also made it clear that there will be no exceptions during the exercise. “No institution or consumer is exempt from the enforcement measures,” the notice stated.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable water services, but stressed that this depends on consumers meeting their payment obligations.

“We therefore urge all affected parties to treat this notice with utmost urgency and take immediate corrective action,” said Acting Managing Director Martin Nang’ole.

For further information or customer support, the company has provided its hotline numbers: 0800 724 366, 0724 253 582 and 0703 080 000.
