Garissa Township Member of Parliament Dekow Barrow has condemned the brutal killing of Garissa Teachers Training College lecturer Ochieng Minudi, who was stabbed to death in Bulla Mzuri on the night of Saturday, October 12, 2025.
In a statement released to newsrooms on Sunday, the MP expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the incident.
He described it as a painful loss to the lecturer’s family as well as to the entire Garissa community and Kenya’s education fraternity.
“This is not just a loss to his family, but to the entire Garissa community and our education fraternity. A dedicated teacher, a mentor, and a hardworking Kenyan’s life has been cut short by heartless criminals,” said Dekow.
The legislator said he is personally following up with police and other relevant authorities to ensure that those responsible for the killing are apprehended and brought to justice.
“I want to make it absolutely clear, I have, and will continue to personally follow up with the police and relevant authorities until every single person involved in this barbaric act is arrested and brought to justice,” he emphasized.
Dekow condemned the rising insecurity in Bulla Mzuri and other parts of Garissa, warning that gangs responsible for terrorizing residents will be dealt with decisively.
“What is happening in Bulla Mzuri and other parts of our town is unacceptable. These gangs that have turned violence into a habit, that rob, maim, and now kill, will be flushed out completely. Enough is enough,” he said.
The legislator reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and safety in Garissa, pledging to work closely with law enforcement to end criminal activity in the area.
“Garissa will not be held hostage by gangs. We owe it to the late Mr. Minudi, to his family, and to every innocent resident who simply wants to live, work, and raise their children in peace,” Dekow noted.
The killing of the lecturer has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for urgent action to address insecurity in Garissa Town.
