Property developers in the country should not focus solely on profits but also consider the comfort and satisfaction of clients, says Joy Irungu, Head of PR and Events at Comex Homes.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Generation, Irungu emphasized that property development should be client-centric, ensuring maximum satisfaction for both investors and tenants.
“Most developers build with profits in mind and don’t consider the people who are going to live there; they only think about investors,” she said.
Irungu noted that Comex Homes takes a different approach by focusing on both investor returns and tenant comfort.
“We think about the investors, how they’re going to get their returns and profits, but we also think about the tenants. For instance, they can have painting sessions on the rooftop because we have a dedicated management company, Comex Living, that handles everything,” she explained.
On Comex’s housing offerings, Irungu said the company builds affordable, luxurious homes across Nairobi designed with client comfort in mind.
“We build affordable, luxurious homes in the sense that we include amenities like swimming pools, gyms, and other facilities, while keeping the units affordable and located in prime areas within the CBD,” she said.
She added that the company recognized the changing lifestyle trends among young professionals, particularly those working remotely.
“We realized a lot of young people are now doing remote jobs and are confined in their homes, which can lead to depression. So we created co-working spaces within our developments to allow interaction among tenants and provide comfortable work areas,” she said.
Comex Homes recently marked a major milestone with the groundbreaking of Astana Residence in Ngara, Nairobi, on September 11, 2025. The development is set to redefine urban living with modern, stylish apartments and a strong focus on investor value.
Astana Residence will feature studio and one-bedroom apartments with premium amenities including retail outlets, a gym, swimming pool, leisure spaces, and rooftop areas.
Comex Homes’ investment model allows buyers to pay a 25% deposit upon signing, with the balance spread over 42 months, aligned with the construction schedule. Investors also benefit from a hands-off management model, covering tenant sourcing, rent collection, and maintenance.
Rental yields are projected at 9%–15% annually, with expected capital appreciation of over 30% upon completion.
