Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has claimed that his security detail was removed following his growing criticism of President William Ruto's administration.

Muturi, who was dismissed from his position on March 26, revealed that his security was taken away on Monday night, just days after he became increasingly vocal against the government.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Muturi shared that two police officers who had been assigned to him due to his previous role as Speaker of the National Assembly were informed not to report to duty on Tuesday.

"My security detail was withdrawn last night at around 7:30 pm. Two police officers who were attached to me by virtue of my position as former Speaker of the National Assembly were told not to report on duty today,” he said.

The former CS further alleged that the withdrawal of his security was politically motivated. He suggested that the move was intended as an attempt to intimidate him for his outspoken stance.

"If this is another attempt to intimidate me, they have dialed yet another wrong number," Muturi added.

Muturi’s criticism of the government intensified following a series of abductions targeting young people during anti-government protests last year.

His son was one of the victims but was eventually released.

Muturi had also expressed frustration at the government's failure to address the issue in Cabinet meetings.

He said he boycotted these meetings, hoping the abductions would be discussed as a priority matter, but nothing changed.

The government responded to his absence by stating that his failure to attend Cabinet meetings demonstrated defiance, which led President Ruto to relieve him of his duties.
