Police search for Kisumu man who stabbed ex-lover after rejection

A report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) indicates that the suspect fled the scene after the woman’s cries for help drew the attention of nearby residents.
Police officers in Kisumu East are searching for a man accused of brutally attacking his 24-year-old former girlfriend, allegedly because she ended their relationship and moved on with someone else.
Identified as Sebi Obonyo, the suspect reportedly stormed into the home of the woman’s current partner in Nyakbong' village, Kamjulu, where he confronted her and stabbed her twice—once in the chest and once on the left ear—leaving her with serious injuries.
A report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) indicates that the suspect fled the scene after the woman’s cries for help drew the attention of nearby residents.
"Sebi Obonyo is reported to have accosted the lady at her current boyfriend's house within Nyakbong' village of Kamjulu at around 4:45 pm Friday, stabbing her twice on the left ear and chest with a sharp object," stated DCI.
Residents who responded to the woman's distress rushed her to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition and is currently recovering.
Initial investigations suggest that Obonyo carried out the brutal attack out of anger and resentment after being left by his former girlfriend for a new partner.
A manhunt to apprehend the suspect is currently ongoing.
