This occurred during a heavy downpour on Friday at the KMC Bridge.

According to the police, the body of Paul Gitonga, the driver of the car that was carried away in the floods, was located on Sunday several kilometers downstream in Lowangishu.

Search and rescue teams continue to scour the area for another individual who is feared to have been swept away in the same flood incident.

The floods severely impacted Soko Mjinga and Safi Estates. Response teams are actively working to evacuate and provide assistance to those affected.

The vehicle involved belonged to a local Member of County Assembly (MCA) and was headed to Isiolo when the incident occurred.

Police Spokesperson Michale Muchiri confirmed the event, stating that it took place at the flooded KMC Bridge as the three were crossing to the other side near a police station in Isiolo.

It was determined that the vehicle was carried nearly two kilometers downstream before being found in a severely damaged condition.

In Safi Estate, several residents who were trapped in their homes by the floods were successfully rescued and relocated to safer areas.

Officials are currently conducting a thorough assessment to determine the number of livestock lost and the full extent of the property damage caused by the flash floods.

Emergency response teams remain on high alert as heavy rainfall continues to affect the region.

Governor Abdi Guyo stated that the floods caused significant damage, displacing families and disrupting daily life across several areas.

"The County Government assures all residents of our unwavering support. Emergency teams are working tirelessly to rescue stranded individuals, relocate families, and distribute food and supplies. We urge everyone, especially those in flood-prone areas, to stay vigilant and heed all safety advisories," he said.

He also mentioned that teams are compiling a detailed damage report to guide ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

"Plans are in place for temporary shelters, medical assistance, food support, and infrastructure repairs."

The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted that showers and thunderstorms will persist throughout the rest of the weekend in the North-eastern region, affecting the counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo.
