The survey shows that only 17% of Kenyans think the country is on the right track, while 21% remain unsure.

Infotrak noted that Kenyans cited the high cost of living (66%), unemployment (30%), and poor governance/SHIF issues (30% combined) as the main reasons for their pessimism.

Rampant corruption, challenges in the education sector, poverty, extra-judicial killings, poor infrastructure, lack of national cohesion, and stalled government projects were also highlighted.

Other concerns raised included rising insecurity and crime, tribalism, unequal distribution of resources and jobs, arbitrary arrests and detentions, abductions, ballooning public debt, unresolved land and squatter issues, and erosion of societal values.

Among those who felt the country is headed in the right direction, 41% cited peace, 37% commended the government’s performance, and 28% pointed to a stabilizing economy.

Others mentioned effective governance at the county level, affordable cost of living, establishment of SHIF, improved education, better infrastructure, and the benefits of devolution.

The poll was conducted between August 13 and 14, 2025, through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI).

A total of 2,400 adult respondents (18 years and above) from all 47 counties and eight regions were interviewed. The sampling frame was based on population proportionate to size guided by the 2019 Census.

The survey has a margin of error of +/-2%. Data was processed and analyzed using SPSS 27 statistical software.
