A fire incident at a petrol station near the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) headquarters in Industrial Area, Nairobi, was on Thursday, September 25, 2025 swiftly contained by emergency response teams.
According to KPC, the fire broke out at 12:40 pm from a manhole at the entrance of the station along Nanyuki Road, raising concerns due to its proximity to the company’s fuel storage facilities.
KPC said it immediately activated emergency teams, who managed to contain the blaze and charged the drains with foam to prevent a recurrence.
“No injuries were recorded, and KPC operations were not affected,” said KPC
The response involved collaboration with Kenya Power, which disconnected electricity in the area to mitigate risk, as well as the Nairobi County Government, Kenya Airports Authority, and Oil Marketing Companies. The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the Makadara Deputy County Commissioner, and local community leaders also supported the efforts.
A multidisciplinary team has since been formed to investigate the cause of the incident.
KPC assured the public of its commitment to safety, noting that swift coordination helped avert what could have been a major disaster.
