He plans to then broaden his journey to include regions such as the Coast, Eastern, Mt Kenya, Narok, Kajiado, and Northern Kenya counties like Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, with the final leg set to take place in Nairobi.

Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, is set to launch a fresh political initiative through a nationwide tour, coming hot on the heels of his recent visits to Western Kenya counties including Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Bungoma.

The vibrant and often theatrical MP, who has been carving out a reputation for his bold political stance, made the announcement on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, through a post on his Instagram account.

Salasya disclosed that he intends to begin his new tour by engaging with youth leaders in his Kisumu Ndogo neighborhood, before embarking on another round of visits across five counties in the Western region.

He plans to then broaden his journey to include regions such as the Coast, Eastern, Mt Kenya, Narok, Kajiado, and Northern Kenya counties like Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, with the final leg set to take place in Nairobi.

Notably, Salasya mentioned that he will intentionally leave out Kisumu, Siaya, and Migori—areas widely regarded as strongholds of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“I will again meet all youth leaders in my home of Kisumundogo before we start it off to another long journey of 5 counties of Western Kenya," he revealed.

"Tukitoka Western tunaingia Coast, (Translation: When we leave the Western region, we head to the Coast) from Coast to Eastern to Mt Kenya to Narok, Kajiado, then we shall go to Wajir, Garisa, and Isiolo, then Kisii. Areas I will not go to are Kisumu, Siaya, and Migori. Nairobi will be the last region."

Salasya’s choice to exclude parts of the Nyanza region is being widely seen as a sign of the widening political divide between him and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In recent weeks, the outspoken MP has ramped up his attacks on both Raila and President William Ruto, claiming the two played a role in his ouster from the National Assembly’s Committee on Regional Development.

He described the move as a calculated political scheme and vowed not to be intimidated into silence.

Salasya, who initially rose to prominence through his energetic and theatrical videos on platforms like TikTok, has lately been repositioning himself as a prominent voice in Western Kenya’s political landscape.

While touring the region, he openly criticized Raila for allegedly failing to secure meaningful benefits for the Luhya community, despite their long-standing loyalty to his political cause.

Salasya also took aim at President Ruto’s recent disbursement of bonuses to sugarcane farmers, questioning the transparency of the funding and positioning himself as a more trustworthy advisor to the president.

Ahead of his Western Kenya engagements, the MP made a bold declaration that the Luhya community was officially severing political ties with the ODM party.

In a statement released on April 5, 2025, Salasya expressed frustration over what he described as the ongoing exclusion of the Luhya people from key national appointments and policy considerations, despite their unwavering support for Raila Odinga over the years.
