MP Babu calls on govt to ban Tanzanian President Suluhu from entering Kenya

The MP argued that Kenya should reciprocate Tanzania’s actions by preventing the President from coming into the country.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called for Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu to be banned from entering Kenya, following the arrest of three Kenyan lawyers at Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport.
Babu Owino argued that Kenya should reciprocate Tanzania’s actions by preventing the President from coming into the country, in response to the detention and deportation of Senior Counsel Martha Karua and two other lawyers on Sunday.
In a statement released on Sunday, March 18, the outspoken MP, known for his strong criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, condemned Tanzania for what he described as the harsh treatment of Kenyan visitors.
Babu Owino has voiced strong concerns over the mistreatment of Kenyan citizens upon arrival in Tanzania, particularly highlighting the incident involving Martha Karua at Julius Nyerere International Airport.
He termed the detention as degrading, unjustified, and a violation of basic human rights.
In a sharp warning to Tanzania’s President, the legislator cautioned against visiting Kenya, citing the disrespect shown to Karua.
"If you cannot uphold proper conduct, then stay away from Kenya. We won’t tolerate such behavior from a Head of State," he declared.
