Kenya 7s set for relegation playoffs as focus shifts to Singapore

The Kenya National Sevens team is set to feature in the HSBC Sevens relegation playoffs following the conclusion of the Hong Kong leg of the series.
Shujaa finished tenth on the log in Hong Kong following a 19-17 loss to South Africa in the ninth place final Sunday.
The tenth place finish ensured that Shujaa collected only three points in the series and maintain their ninth place on the log.
It also means that they will be forced to go through the playoffs to retain their place in the HSBC Sevens Series for the 2025/26 season.
With only 18 points on the table, Shujaa will not be able to collect enough points to overtake the Great Britain who are above them and have 38 points even if they win the Singapore leg, an impossibility considering their form this season.
The Singapore leg of the series takes place this weekend from 4-6 April 2025.
Shujaa are already in Singapore ahead of the tournament.

It should make for an interesting group.
If Kenya are able to get past the French, a Cup quarterfinal and semi will be on the cards.
Following Singapore, the final leg of the series will take place in Los Angeles where the list of attendees for the upcoming season will be known.
