Kenya Golf Union announces new Chairperson, leadership team

The Kenya Golf Union has named a new team that will manage affairs at the body for the coming 12 months.
Thika Golf Club's Chris Kinuthia assumes the role of chairperson.
"We are proud to announce Chris Kinuthia of Thika Sports Club as the new Chairman of the Kenya Golf Union for the year 2025/26. He takes over the reins from David Ndung’u of Limuru Country Club," the Union said in a statement.
Joining him in top leadership are: Brian Akun, Vice Chairman from Vet Lab Golf Club, Jonathan Marucha, Honorary Secretary from Kenya Railways Golf Club, and Weldon Mutai, Honorary Treasurer, from Sigona Golf Club.
Executive Committee members are Peter Mwaura (Ruiru Golf Club), James Gitonga (Mombasa Golf Club), Robert Ngugi (Muthaiga Golf Club) Liban Roba (Karen Country Club), Robert Obondy (Nakuru Golf Club) and Sam Kang'au from Windsor Golf Club.
Kinuthia was happy to take over the reins and promised changes to the way leadership works at the Union.
"Our clubs are the lifeblood of Kenyan golf. They are where the game lives, breathes, and thrives. KGU must be a true partner, listening closely, supporting practically, and responding effectively to the needs of every club," he said.
Each team serves 12 months before fresh elections are held to determine the membership composition of the executive Committee.
The Kenya Golf Union is the custodian and organiser of the annual Kenya Open Golf tournament which has over the years risen to European Tour status.
