Gor Mahia held by AFC Leopards in Homa Bay

Gor now sit second on the KPL log with 55 points from 32 matches played.
Kenya Police will become Kenya Premier League champions for the first time in history, provided they collect just one point from their remaining two Kenya Premier League matches following Gor Mahia's 1-1 draw with AFC Leopards in Homa Bay.
Gor needed three points to have any opportunity of making any challenge of Police's seven-point lead over them in the KPL log, and they started well, with Austin Odhiambo granting them a lead on 30 minutes to hand the initiative to the home side at a packed Raila Odinga Stadium.
It was a well-taken goal from Odhiambo, who beat a defender after collecting a smart cross from Alpha Onyango to beat Levis Opiyo in the Leopards goal from distance for the lead.
History in recent times has provided many tightly contested matches in the Mashemeji Derby, and this one proved no different, with Leopards showing their mettle and plenty of heart despite going behind.
They duly equalised just four minutes into the second half through Bryan Wanyama to silence the rupturous crowd that was just settling into the second half.
Wanyama expertly guided the ball home after following through Bryan Maker's looping header to grant the away side a goal.
Gor were shell-shocked.
They instantly upped the tempo, searching for a second.
Benson Omala threatened, while there was a penalty shout when Paul Ochuoga fell in Leopards territory, but overall, Leopards defended poignantly for the remainder of the match to earn a point against a Gor side that once again failed to collect three points despite taking the lead.
Gor now sit second on the KPL log with 55 points from 32 matches played. Police have 61 and know that a point against fourth-placed Shabana on Wednesday, 11 June 2025.
Leopards have 47 points and sit sixth on the standings.
