Manchester United are closing in on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

According to reports from reputable journalists close to the story, it is understood that United are getting encouragement that Mbeumo wants to come to Old Trafford this summer.

No talks have taken place between the clubs but formal discussions are now expected to proceed.

United will face competition, with a number of Premier League clubs keen on the player, it is said.

"Bryan Mbuemo decides he wants to join Man Utd & the club now expected to open talks with Brentford in bid to sign the 25-year-old forward this summer. Likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham all interested but Cameroon international favours Old Trafford if deal agreed," transfer specialist David Ornstein said on his X account.

Mbeumo's form this past season didn't go unnoticed, scoring 20 Premier League goals as a wide forward.

Only Mohamed Salah (28), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22) got more during the campaign.

As such, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, all of whom are in the 2025-26 Champions League, had shown interest.

Even though United cannot offer European football at all until at least 2026-27, they are seemingly Mbeumo's preference if the clubs can reach a compromise.

"Bryan Mbeumo has decided to give priority to Manchester United move this summer! Despite interest from three clubs in Premier League, Mbeumo favours Man United move," Fabrizio Romano stated on his X account as well.

United are rebuilding their squad ahead of the summer after a disappointing season, which saw them finish 15th in the English Premier League and lose the Europa League Final to Tottenham Hotspur.

They have already signed Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, who has come in from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
