McCarthy heartbroken by winless Harambee Stars record

McCarthy's three matches in charge of the Stars have been eventful but not spectacular.
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy believes that he and his players deserve to have won at least one of the three matches he has been in charge of, terming their record unlucky.
McCarthy's three matches in charge of the Stars have been eventful but not spectacular.
A 3-3 draw versus the Gambia in World Cup Qualifying in Abidjan, Ivory Coast was followed by a 2-1 home loss to Gabon in Nairobi a few days later.
On Saturday, a dull 0-0 draw against Chad was met with angst by local fans, especially considering the lowly nature of the opposition.
Chad were ranked 177 in the last official FIFA rankings, a far cry from Kenya's 111.
According to McCarthy, his players did not earn their due on Saturday and he hopes that they can convert some of the opportunities that have gone begging.
"I believe that we have been unlucky with some of the results. Against Chad, we did not score which is heartbreaking. We played very well. We dominated the game. They defended deep from midfield and made it tough," he said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday evening's second clash against Chad in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.
"We should score and the result is different."
The Stars face their opponents at 6 pm Kenyan time and they will be hoping to get a win to bring back home as they continue preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championships CHAN, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
At CHAN, Kenya have a tough test coming up. They face Morocco, DR Congo, Angola and Zambia come kick-off on 2 August 2025.
