Kenya Police FC have officially been crowned the 2024/25 Kenya Premier League champions.

Following a 1-1 draw with ex-champions Gor Mahia at Ulinzi Stadium on Sunday, Police were awarded their new trophy as they began celebrations in earnest.

They were later presented with their bling.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed handed the trophy to Police Captain David Cheche Ochieng, the experienced defender, then proceeded to hoist the trophy infront of a jubilant Police squad and staff.

Police, who had earlier ditched their bus and tracksuits and arrived at the Ulinzi ground in high-end vehicles and three-piece suits, were good enough to earn a point even when it was clear their minds were elsewhere against a colourless Gor side.

Musa Sharif opened the scoring for Gor in the first half, but just like they have all season, Police came back once again and drew level through David Okoth in the second half to secure a point.

The final league standings read: Kenya Police 65 points and Gor Mahia second on 59 points.

Kakamega Homeboyz edged out Tusker FC to finish third on the log with 58.

The two sides met in Mumias with the clash ending in a barren draw.

Tusker ended the season with 57. Kisii's Shabana finished fifth on 53 points following an impressive second half of the season, with AFC Leopards managing sixth on 51.

Police are now gunning to improve their squad ahead of their appearance in the next edition of the CAF Champions League, which their coach says they will prepare adequately for.

"I have a lot of confidence in the current squad, but we will be heading into the transfer market aiming to bolster it,” Police boss Etienne Ndayiragije revealed following the match.

“Our next focus is to prepare well for the Champions League. We got a taste of continental football in the Confederation Cup, but this is a much bigger stage, and it demands that we step up our efforts."

That is for next season.

For today, they celebrate a maiden title and one of many more to come, they hope.

Congratulations to Kenya Police FC. 2024/25 Kenya Premier League Champions.
