National team Harambee Stars will take part in a four nations tournament ahead of their appearance at the upcoming African Nations Championships CHAN tournament in August as they up their preparations ahead of the tournament which will take place from August 2,2025.
The CECAFA Four Nations Cup in Arusha, Tanzania, from Thursday, 24 to Sunday, 27 July, will offer the Stars the perfect opportunity to pick up some competitive minutes after the regional body cancelled plans for the usual CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup due to the closeness of its positioning to CHAN.
The four nations tournament will feature Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Sudan.
Benni McCarthy's men will face hosts Tanzania on Thursday, 24 July, at 4 PM Kenyan time in their opening match, while Uganda takes on Sudan in the tournament’s opener earlier that day at 1 PM.
If Kenya manages to beat Tanzania, they will take on the winner of the other semifinal in the final at 4 PM on 27 July, with the losers facing off in a playoff at 1 PM to determine the third place finisher.
McCarthy named his squad for CHAN Wednesday in Nairobi and with the Kenya Premier League and other African domestic leagues now on off season break, his focus will be on working to ensure chemistry and seek a winning formula.
Kenya is in group A of CHAN, where they will host Zambia, Morocco, DR Congo and Angola in what looks like an extremely tough group on paper.
