Posta Rangers coach Omollo to drop players over 30 years old after surviving relegation

Posta Rangers will drop players 30 years and above from their squad for next season, according to head coach Sammy Omollo.
Rangers will compete in the 2025/26 Kenya Premier League courtesy of a two legged 2-1 aggregate relegation/promotion playoff win over Naivas FC in June after they finished among the bottom three clubs in the KPL last term.
According to coach Omollo, with preparations for the new season already underway, changes must come to ensure that the club retains its status and more, and he believes that age factor was one of the reasons the team did not perform well in the just ended season.
‘’I will first of all work on reducing the age limit. Last season, I had six players above 30 years old and this did not work well for us. I will trim out players above 30 years,’’ stated Omollo as quoted by Citizen Digital.
He also bemoaned the fact that he will have to look for a new centre forward, with his main striker poised to leave the club this off season.
"My main striker Felix Oluoch is joining Zimbabwean side Scotland FC. He was our main striker, meaning we have to look for youthful goal poachers ahead of next season, he added.
Rangers are funded and supported by the Postal Corporation of Kenya, whose financial problems are very well documented. According to Omollo, the KPL needs a title sponsor to support teams that are struggling.
"Our financial muscle was weak last season and that is one other challenge we had. We hope Federation will bring on board a title sponsor. In addition, it would be healthy for us if we also get our shirt sponsor, he added.’’
Regardless of all that could be thrown their way, Rangers will be happy to be a part of the KPL, not the second tier National Super League.
