British Tennis queen Emma Raducanu has pulled out of Great Britain's squad for next week's Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers against Germany and the Netherlands.

World Number 2 Iga Swiatek has also announced that she will pull out of the competition.

22 year old Raducanu reached the quarter-finals of the Miami Open last week, her best performance since 2021 when she won the US Open.

As a result, she will not participate in any WTA tournaments during that time.

It is unclear when she intends to return to action.

She has also withdrawn from Britain's team for their Billie Jean King Cup in the Netherlands.

"I recognize this has been a difficult decision for Emma," Britain captain Anne Keothavong said on the Lawn Tennis Association's X account.

"Of course, you always miss a player of her quality on the team. We've seen what she can do in the past representing her country, but I have the utmost belief in the players who are travelling next week and will confirm a fifth player in due course, she stated.

The Billie Jean King Cup is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation.

Poland is hosting Switzerland and Ukraine in the round-robin qualifier, but Swiatek, who is ranked No. 2, said Wednesday she made the “difficult decision” to skip it.

“I always represent my country with pride. I played everything there was to play for the country last year," Swiatek said in a statement.

“Now it's time for more balance, focusing on myself and my training.”
