Kenya Police FC begun their CAF Champions League campaign with a noteworthy 3-1 success over Mogadishu City Club MCC in their CAF Champions League first round first leg qualifier held at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi Saturday 20 September 2025.

The men in blue were the better side all through the match and deserved their victory on the day.

Eric Zakayo, Edward Omondi and David Simiyu were on the scoresheet for the men in blue, who picked up an important lead ahead of the return leg clash at the same venue on 28 September 2025.

Zakayo opened the scoring on 17 minutes, taking advantage of smart play from Albert Otieno to give the current Kenya Premier League champions an early lead on the day.

Issa Marsis equalized for Mogadishu on 49 minutes, with a fine finish to hand the visitors a reprieve but Police, who knew that any loss of momentum would cost them the match, quickly stepped up the pace and duly restored their lead through Edward Omondi on 57 minutes.

Police would add a third on 70 minutes, David Simiyu completing a third goal to silence the large Mogadishu CC fanbase that had adorned the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi and complete a big win for Police, who will seek to enforce a sizeable lead come the return leg clash at the same ground Sunday 28 September 2025.

With a week in between the two fixtures, Mogadishu CC will have a tough task on their hands as they will need three goals without reply to overturn the Police lead next week.
