Tusker FC coach Charles Okere admits that the pressure is already on for his side following an opening day loss to KCB in the Sportpesa top flight League.
The brewers, looking to bounce back from a far from convincing fourth place finish in the 2024/25 season, by their standards, were well beaten by KCB, 2-0 last Friday on the opening day of the campaign, with former Gor Mahia winger Boniface Omondi twice on the scoresheet.
Eric Kapaito could have handed the Brewers a goal on the day and with it much needed traction, but he could only sky his penalty over the bar to the dismay of his coaching staff and teammates.
Okere admits that the pressure is already on for he and his team.
"We congratulate KCB for a win and three points. 2-0 is not an easy score to achieve against Tusker FC, he told the club's official media. The tactician rued a number of missed opportunities that could have turned the game in their favour
"There were scoring chances but we could not take them, so we have to improve there, he admitted. The former Harambee Starlets coach is adamant that his players have what it takes to bounce back in their next clash.
Tusker will face Posta Rangers in their second match of the season on Saturday 27 September, knowing a win will be an obligation for his side. Rangers begun their season on a high by beating Mathare United 2-1 on Monday at the Kasarani Stadium Annexe.
"We have a good group. I believe we met a good team in KCB and lost. However, now the pressure is on us because we cannot afford to be too far behind the others. A positive result is important, he shared his feelings.
At the moment, Tusker FC are bottom of the league with no points on the board. Its only one game played so far this season, meaning no real panic buttons have been pressed. That said, the tension will already be at its highest at their Ruaraka base.
